Brian Gregg Sheldon joined the Falen Law Offices in 2018 after several years of experience working for law firms specializing in public lands litigation, natural resource law, and water and property rights.  Brian has represented a wide variety of clients in diverse areas of law throughout the Mountain West, ranging from fifth-generation ranch families and local governments to multinational corporations and non-profits, wild horse rescues, and even a couple of monasteries.  His knowledge of the West’s resource management issues stems from his involvement in a number of prominent cases, including being part of the firm that represented the Hammond family during the 2016 events at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and their subsequent presidential pardon.

Brian graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado as an undergraduate and obtained his law degree from the University of Idaho, where he was a recipient of a scholarship from the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and winner of the Gibbons National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition in 2012.  As a law student, Brian had the privilege of clerking for the Hon. B. Lynn Winmill, Chief Judge of the U.S. District of Idaho, and also served as an extern for the Idaho Attorney General’s Office at the Idaho Department of Water Resources.

Brian was born and raised in southern Colorado.  His family traces its roots to the ranches and farms of the High Plains, and some of his ancestors served as guides on the Oregon Trail.  In his spare time, Brian enjoys mountaineering and weightlifting, and is also an avid musician who plays several instruments.  Proud of his Scottish heritage, he is a member of the international Clan Gregor Society and a competitive bagpiper who has medaled at many of the Highland Games across the western U.S.
